The story of Berrichi began on an unforgettable journey to Bali, where the brand’s founder, Berit, was traveling with her family.
One day, she noticed local fishermen whose faces bore the marks of harsh weather — yet their hands remained soft and smooth.
How could that be? The secret lay in the seaweed they handled every single day.
From the kitchen table to the laboratory
That discovery stayed with Berit long after the trip.
Having already experimented with making her own creams at home, she began exploring ways to harness the beneficial properties of seaweed in skincare.
This sparked the idea to create a cosmetics line that unites the purity of natural ingredients with the excellence of science — to offer skin care that is both effective and gentle.
Estonian seaweed Furcellaria lumbricalis
At the heart of Berrichi lies Furcellaran – an antioxidant derived from the rare seaweed Furcellaria lumbricalis, which grows in the pristine waters of Estonia.
In collaboration with Tallinn University, Berrichi conducted a two-year scientific study that confirmed the seaweed’s remarkable suitability for skincare.
Berrichi became the first cosmetics brand in the world to use this extraordinary ingredient in skincare.
Thanks to this groundbreaking research, Furcellaran is now available for use by other cosmetic brands as well.
