2 years of refills: celebrating an eco-friendly change

This spring marks two years since Berrichi launched its first refillable face cream packaging. It was the first of its kind in Estonian natural cosmetics. It was a bold move, followed by excitement from customers: “Why didn’t anyone do this before?”

Today, it has become one of the core values of our brand. Now is the time to celebrate it, remind existing fans, and introduce it to those who haven’t yet gotten around to using a refill.

How did it all start?

Our previous glass packaging consisted of a glass bottle and a plastic container inside. A total of 182 grams of packaging per jar of cream. Considering that the shelf life of a single face cream is not very long, it was clear that this was not a sustainable solution.

What we did? A smart system: reusable glass bottle + replaceable airless pump refill bottle. It’s easy to use, aesthetic, hygienic and, most importantly, has a significantly smaller ecological footprint.

Why do our creams need special protection?

Many people don’t know that the astaxanthin in Berrichi’s face creams is an exceptionally sensitive active ingredient. It needs darkness, a stable temperature, and as little exposure to air as possible. A regular plastic jar or tube wouldn’t protect it as it should. That’s why we chose a vacuum pump solution that keeps the product fresh, clean, and active until every pump.
